Turns out I have a similar approach to David Byrne for idea generation and writing – just get your thoughts down, even if it’s only a couple words or phrases, and flesh them out later. (Or, as he likes to say, fill in the blanks.) That style is what drove the R&F visual brand identity, which you can get a sense of from his notes (taken from his book How Music Works) for a couple popular Talking Heads songs.
